General Duties This position serves under the direction of the Public Health Director.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Conduct routine inspections of permitted establishments in accordance with Kentucky State Laws and Regulations.
This includes facilities such as restaurants, public pools, schools, hotels/motels, mobile home parks, youth camps, shelters, etc.
Conduct courtesy and follow-up inspections as needed.
Provide information on Food Manager and Food Handler testing program.
Investigate animal bites and conduct quarantine of animals.
Respond to environmental public health nuisance complaints.
Complete all necessary documentation to track complaints and program services.
Monitor trends within all program areas.
Conduct site evaluations for the onsite sewage program and complete all necessary follow-ups for permits of septic tanks and lateral fields and/or repairs to existing systems per Kentucky State Laws and Regulations.
Successfully pass all required trainings.
Successfully pass the KY Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) exam and complete appropriate continuing education hours to maintain REHS certification.
Participate in quality improvement activities and complete all required health department training.
Perform Public Health Preparedness job duties.
And other duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Qualifications Incumbents in this position must possess the ability to:
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Adhere and maintain confidentiality as per the Lincoln County Health Department Confidentiality Agreement.
Learn assigned tasks readily.
Subscribe to departmental routine and follow moderate to difficult written/verbal instructions.
Communicate regularly with Director.
Follow administrative directives.
Handle multiple tasks.
Effectively manage time.
Type and operate a computer with proficiency.
Be client/public service oriented.
Maintain assigned office hours to serve the public.
Effectively work as a team and build/maintain a strong team dynamic.
Cross train and provide back-up for other roles within the department.
Minimum Education, Training or Experience Requirements:
A bachelor's degree is required.
The person in this position must successfully pass the KY Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) exam by the end of their first six months of employment.
Salary:
Starting at $19.
07 - $25.
32 per hour--negotiable based on relevant experience-- This job has the potential for advancement.
